Warming up

Teacher asks students “How are you?” to find out their mood at the beginning of the lesson, students sing a song “How are you?”

Whole class activity:

— Students  play a guessing game : It is red. What is it ?

  Teacher demonstration / Whole class activity:

— Teacher   presents  the new topic of the lesson “Things  I like”

Teacher uses visuals of different types of food to introduce food vocabulary.

— uses  choral drilling for students to learn how to pronounce the words correctly

— Teacher  models I like/ I don’t like  in building  up two groups of food items on the board  beneath a happy /sad face.

Teacher holds up pictures  and demonstrates  the question Do you like …? and   short answers  Yes, I do. No, I don’t.

— Students sing a song: Do you like broccoli ice cream?

—        Pairwork

Students ask each other questions : Do you like…?  —

Yes, I do.   No, I don’t.

 

Group work

—    students  draw  a little food  poster

— teacher  provides  each student with necessary materials   and lets  them start their work

— teacher goes  around the class, monitors  and assists  if necessary

Students stick  their posters on a board and volunteers from each group tell about their likes and dislikes

Other  children estimate their answers with “Thumbs Up”  “Thumbs down” and express their  opinion  in native language .

 Formative assessment:

-Teacher  hands  out worksheets for matching activity [Learners listen to short conversations between a boy and a girl and on a worksheet they draw strait lines to the things each character likes and wiggly lines to the things each character doesn’t like  ]

— sets a time limit of 5 minutes;

— in 5 minutes collects the papers for further assessment; give students praising stickers for their work.

Reflection
