2. To enrich their vocabulary, to develop pupils abilities in speech, to develop communicative skills

3. To promote interpersonal relationship of pupils.

Procedure of the lesson

Introduction

Greeting: Good morning, dear children! I’m very glad to see you and our guests today at the lesson. How are you today? Look at the blackboard, please. What do you see? What have you associations with this picture? (peers say: Christmas tree, Christmas, holiday, etc.) Ok, you are right. Today you’ll study new theme «New Year and Christmas» in England. Are you ready? Let’s begin our lesson. (2-3 min)

Warming-up activities: Read and try to learn by heart (3 times)

Little Jack Horner,
Sat in a corner,
Eating a Christmas pie,
He put in his thumb,
And pulled out a plum,
And said What a good boy am I.

Then the teacher delete the words (Jack Horner, Christmas pie, thumb, plum) and peers should read with deleted words, so that will learn by heart new words and a poem.

Presentation. Look at the blackboard. Write down new words in your dictionaries. Pronunciation new words (3 times):

Task:

1. Listen and title the text

2. Make up 3 questions in group to other group.

In this day people sing traditional Christmas songs. Many churches hold a service on the Sunday before Christmas.

The fun starts the night before, on the 24th of December. Traditionally this is the day when people decorate their trees. Children hang stockings at their beds, hoping that Father Christmas will come down the chimney during the night and fill them with toys and sweets.

Christmas is a family holiday. All the family usually meets for the big Christmas dinner of turkey and Christmas pudding. And everyone gives and receives presents. New Years Day is not such favorable in Britain than Christmas. (15 min)
